The Marlboro adverts’ Americana was one of my defining adolescent reasons for being a photographer, as well as a smoker. Prompted by a dream, I rediscovered them on eBay – in the smoke-free liminality and nostalgia of midlife, as America went through its own desolation and disillusion of the Trump era. A perfect time for a new dream to emerge…
